It's funny this one should come up. Just a few weeks ago, I wrote on my One Small Step blog about how I'd found the perfect band to accompany me in my training for the 2012 London Marathon.
That band happened to be near-legendary, politically-pissed off rap rockers and Christmas Number One cause de celebre, Rage Against the Machine.
Indeed, there's something about the bass lines and thumping beats, combined with Zack De la Roche vitriolic tirades that really seems to keep me going whilst preparing for The Big 26 Miles.
But I've already covered that here, so today I'd like to talk about another band I've often used to keep the adrenalin pumping on workouts; Brooklyn-based hardcore outfit Biohazard.
I don't quite remember how I discovered this group, only that I did so during my college years, and that every -often shortl-lived- attempt I've made to get fit and healthy since has been soundtracked by their rather incredible album New World Disorder.
There's something very guttural, something very primitive and raw about this music which almost demands you listen to it whilst being active. This is not in anyway music to play for fun around the house, or to relax to, this is fast, furious, awesomely aggressive and brilliant brutal music that gets your blood pumping, your heart racing and your mind hell bent on having the best work out of your life.
Please, enjoy.
