30-Day Song Challenge: Day 1 – My Favourite Song: Pearl Jam - Alive

I've a feeling I'm a little bit late to the party on this one, but after my old friend Rosie kicked off her own 30 Day Song Challenge on Facebook today, it seemed like a bandwagon that was just too cool not to jump on.

So yeah, up first, my favourite song. It has to be This monster of tune from the mighty Pearl Jam.

There's a million reasons why I love this song so much; Vedder's vocal sends excited shivers down my spine and the guitars grip the senses in a way that few songs can. Mostly though, it does what all truly great songs should do; takes you to some place where you find yourself completely lost in the music, oblivious to the world around  you and absorbed completely by it's brilliance.

Seeing the band perform this live at Leeds Festival 2006 is a clear highlight of all my gig-going experiences.
