It made a lot of sense too; my personal life changed dramatically last year and my professional life is about to do this year, so leaving behind this record of the past three years and starting over with a fresh, shiny new blog seemed like a good idea.
Partly because I'm quite pleased with some of the things documented in this blog, but mostly because I'm incredibly lazy, I changed my mind.
The blog stays, but it will change, even if I'm not sure how yet.
The work I've been doing over the last five years, especially with The LINC, is likely to come to an end later this year and I'll be moving onto other things, though again, I'm not sure what those things are yet.
I do, however, know I'm looking forward to it.
Okay, so it's this pesky 'economic situation' that's forcing the changes in my work life, but I will admit that I'm quite calm, and in some ways even happy about it.
Five years is a long time to do anything, even something you mostly enjoy, and a change can save that thing from becoming mundane.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping that I can remain involved in my current areas of work; the music, the writing, the work with young people and the web/social media stuff I've been doing all bring their own challenges and rewards and I'd be sad to leave any of them behind.
That said, the idea now is to take the skills and knowledge I've acquired over the past few years into new projects.
I don't know what those projects might be just now, but it doesn't matter. The events of last year mean that I know longer have many, if any, personal commitments, and with the impending changes in my career, I feel blessed with a certain sense of freedom right now that I haven't felt in a long time.
I also feel like I'm heading into the unknown and, to be honest, it's pretty exciting.
