Aged 27, I’ve spent the past eight years working across a variety of fields including journalism, PR, marketing, artist and event management and online media.
My focus and passion has always been heavily rooted in the leisure and entertainment sectors, using an array of skills to build upon fresh, creative ideas and deliver results.
I currently work for Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust, a large social enterprise operating leisure and culture facilities on behalf of a number of local authorities, where my main role is to manage online content and social media delivery.
My biggest success here was developing a website for young-people over a period of five years and taking responsibility for increasing page views year-on-year to the point where they reached 1 million page views per year.
Previously, I have held roles as a journalist, editor and copy editor for The LINC magaazine, a quarterly publication direct-mailed to around 30,000 young people, as well as working on a freelance basis for a number of other online and print publications.
Music remains my biggest love, and I am lucky to be involved in a number of projects in this area, particularly Haigh Fest, a large outdoor music festival which attracts crowds of around 8,000 each July. My role here involves working with a small team to select each year’s line-up before taking a lead on the marketing of the event through online media. From 2011, I also act as Master of Ceremonies for the event (that’s me doing my thing at Haigh in the picture above).
Outside of that, I’m also involved in organising and running other live music and entertainment events, managing artists and handling PR work for other events and artists.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing bass guitar, writing poetry, photograpy and film.
